My Survey

Movie Production Survey: http://goo.gl/forms/M35lALojRd

1. It was definitely tough trying to create questions that would help my research and make it interesting to the person taking the survey.

2. I had almost no similar questions to them and I used a lot of multiple choice questions.

3. Yes because I could tell the difference between high school students and adults who took my survey. For example, the answer for my question asking what the highest grossing movie of all time was Gone With the Wind however not too many high school kids have even heard of that movie. Because of this almost 60% answered Star Wars which is well known by all high school kids and there was only one answer for Gone With the Wind which I can almost guarantee was answered by Mrs. Conner.

4. My survey told me how many high school kids are very familiar with movies and enjoy watching them a lot. Also, my survey answered which movie production company is most popular and favorite today.

5. I got 17 responses.

6. A good project we could do is to be given a task related to an aspect of sports marketing such as, survey, poster, presentation, speech, etc. and then we can all present in front of the class and then vote on who did the best job.

Marketing Mix

My company will sell hockey sticks. My biggest competitor is Bauer because they are the most popular hockey equipment company. However, I believe my company is better than Bauer when it comes to sticks because they are the same quality, for a cheaper price. So far for promotions we have put up signs in rinks for many players to see and we recently put up two massive billboards in the heart of Boston. Not only will we be promoting in Boston, but we will also be selling out of our new warehouse located at 12 Ericsson Street in Boston. Our warehouse can be seen from the highway and is right off of many busy roads, making it a great location to attract customers.

Product- Hockey Sticks
Price- $249.99 ($10 less than any other hockey stick company)
Promotion- Billboards throughout Boston and advertisement signs in hockey rinks throughout Massachusetts
Place-Boston, MA

Bauer

Product- Hockey Sticks
Price- $259.99
Promotion- Commercials and ads on tv and signs in rinks
Place- Burlington, MA

Case Study- Nintendo

The case study was about Nintendo's attempts to keep up with their competitors in the video game world. Nintendo had fallen behind for a few reasons. First, they were being beaten because they only made games directed towards younger kids, such as Mario and Pokemon. Now, they hope to have success with new action games. Another aspect Nintendo was getting beaten in was online gaming. Competitors like Microsoft and Sony have converted to online consoles, but Nintendo still refuses to make the switch. Nintendo hopes to get back in the race for most popular gaming company with new generations of Mario games along with new consoles.

(This Case Study is from Unit 1 including Chapter 1 and Chapter 2.)

  • Consumers- Nintendo is trying to get consumers to have interest in their products by gearing games toward a new target market.
  • Product- Nintendo is attempting to make this comeback by changing their products.
  • Risks- Nintendo is taking risks by shifting their target market because they may not be successful in that market.
  • Consumer Loyalty- This is very important for Nintendo because if the fail with their new products, they are going to have to depend on consumer loyalty to stay alive.
  • Revenue- This whole situation started because Nintendo needed more revenue because they were being overshadowed by Sony and Microsoft.

An example of a situation in sports I would be interested in researching is the situation with the Fifa organization. They used to be a company that was widely loved because they are the organizers of the World Cup and soccer is loved around the world. However they have recently been under high criticism. I would like to learn more about the situation and listen to both sides of the argument.

Boston Olympics

Originally, the city of Boston was in the mix for hosting the 2024 Olympics, but was recently ruled out. It was proclaimed that Boston was too small to hold the games and that not enough citizens of Boston approved of this. As awesome as it would be to hold such amazing event here in Boston, I do not think it would be a good idea for many reasons. The city would be absolutely packed on top of the daily city traffic, causing trouble for businesses and people trying to get to work. Also, Boston does not have the parking space for the average 7 million people who travel to see these games. I think many citizens of Boston did not want the games to be held here because of the lasting nightmares of the Boston Marathon bombing in 2013, and obviously the Olympics is an even bigger target for terrorists.
